In the jungles of Peru, the fight for survival heightened his senses. Now, Detective Jim Ellison is a sentinel in the fight for justice. Anthropologist Blair Sandburg works side by side with Jim, helping him develop these senses.
With [Richard] Burgi soberly underplaying Ellison as a perplexed, vulnerable protagonist, "The Sentinel" is still swimming in intriguing murkiness. Inevitably, though, formulaic TV intervenes.
Writing is sharp, direction is snappy, and actors perform to maximum effect. [Richard] Burgi conveys complexities of Ellison's confusion and efforts to cope with what's happening to him, and [Garett] Maggart is a good foil.
