I've come to expect the bittersweet twinge that accompanies these intrusions. But for the first time in the NBC series' short run, this week's episode did not make me misty and/or sad and/or a pile of sniffling sobs.
It's no secret that Jack's death is going to happen sooner rather than later, but I still gasp out loud every time we start actually moving in that direction, because it's going to be beyond gut-wrenching.
One of the best things about This Is Us is its insanely likable cast, and "Three Sentences" mostly just lets them hang out with one another in low-stakes but meaningful situations.
If you're considering having kids, "Three Sentences" may make you reconsider: Seeing your children hurt can't be easy, especially when there's absolutely nothing you can do or say to make it better.
Of course, the main culprits of the weepiness in "Three Sentences" are some quick glimpses of a funeral - yes, that funeral - and a very emotional POUND fitness class. I promise it's not as weird as it sounds.
