I hope you enjoyed that heartwarming tale, because the present-day Pearson holiday saga is less Miracle on 34th Street, more the George's-life-is-crap-and-we're-not-even-to-the-midpoint-yet part of It's a Wonderful Life.
If we could miraculously keep William in the fold by having him cured somehow, I'd be willing to suspend disbelief, because this character has really become an integral part of the show.
The parts are greater than the sum. Don't get me wrong, I look forward to my weekly visits with the Pearson clan - we laugh! We cry! We talk of hats! - but I'm still waiting to fall head over heels in love.
'Tis the season of mortifyingly tacky and overly dramatic holiday episodes, and while "Last Christmas" definitely lays on the drama, it does so in a rather composed manner.
