New dramatic and comedy stories of Shameless come up in the ninth season following the daily life of the weird family, Gallagher, as each one of the family has his own trouble that leads him to many difficulties and comey events. This season begins with Frank gets into trouble with the Hopkins Academy PTA. And Ian expresses his sexual gay desires into the jail, but Fiona tries to get him out from there.
It's not easy to keep things fresh after so long on the air, but Shameless Season 9 Episode 1 was filled with the signature humor, drama, and acting that we've come to expect from this Showtime hit.
That's a lot of pressure for a season of television, and based on the premiere I'm not sure the current trajectory of Shameless is going to be able to withstand it. I'd love to be proven wrong.
Shameless has developed a specific rhythm. The humor is still strong and the twists hilarious, but in a recognizable style pleasing for the fans. Still, if this is your first glimpse of the Gallagher family, it won't be anything less than rowdy.
Once you can resign yourself to the fact that the situation is never going to get appreciably better for the Gallaghers, it becomes much easier to sit back, relax, and enjoy their exploits.
"Are You There, Shim? It's Me, Ian," maintains the series' signature comedic style and high-level family dysfunction while also providing a stark contrast to the show's first season.
