A series of vivid political drama full of powerful events begins with a woman who is distinguished by her ability to master language skills and creative thinking, as well as her knowledge of the Middle East. Elizabeth McCord was elected as Secretary of State by the President after leaving her job as a CIA analyst. Elizabeth faces many complex political challenges but tries to reconcile politics with her domestic life. Elizabeth's mission begins when she faces a hostile message threatening to publish classified documents leaked from within the State Department.
Madam Secretary starts off solidly, with an engaging performance by Téa Leoni. What may draw much of the attention with Sunday's premiere, though, is a jarring intersection between the show's plot and recent real-life events in the Mideast.
Instead of feeling pleasantly optimistic, Madam Secretary is just really, really dull, as if someone tried to make a counterweight to Scandal with only the boring parts-plus one shamelessly ripped-off conspiracy theory.
I've seen The West Wing, was a big fan of The West Wing and this is no West Wing. If anything, it is the anti-West Wing or West Wing without the charm.
