Inspired by a holiday, this series presents a new horrifying story in each episode. The second season starts with a group of adult friends who are trapped at a terrifying game. They have to play to escape, but if they must win to survive.
Into The Dark: Delivered is one of the best movies of the series. What starts out predictable quickly takes a turn for the dark side - and it is awesome.
From a thematic standpoint, Delivered has rich themes to explore. It's all there for the movie to latch onto, but it only gives its ideas a cursory glance.
Bound by its premise and undercut by at least one unneeded twist, Delivered still establishes at atmospheric sense of place and proceeds at a deliberate pace, avoiding the easier jolts that might have been possible.
There are questions concerning quality parenting, infertility, and a loss of bodily autonomy that make this seemingly simple story weigh heavily once the credits roll.
Every time I almost wrote off "Delivered" for tricks like these, Majorino would do something to bring me back... She reckons with the sadness beneath the sociopathology, which makes her way more interesting than your standard pregnancy horror villain.
