In a comedy atmosphere, this television series drama centers around the struggling life of Issa, a young African woman, who receives abuse according to her color' racial discrimination', the thing that affects badly on her, as she and her best friend Molly, have no luck on dating, and incidents come to climax, upon leaving Lawrence, Issa's boyfriend, the thing that frustrates her and makes her searching for a lover.
Tiffany is sobbing over eating a weed brownie while pregnant, Kelli still very high after getting tazed, and Molly freaking out over her brief -- is probably one of Insecure's best in terms of comedic value.
"High-Like" is a hilarious episode of Insecure. It provides some of the best Kelli moments we've ever seen. It's the best ensemble episode we've had between the girls.
I'm on Team No One and I'm more interested in other things, like Nathan (and the growing fracture between Issa and Tiffany), but either way it's nice to have Lawrence back, along with all the emotions his character stirs up in people.
From the jump it's clear Issa, Molly, Kelli and Tiffany are going to have their plans of witnessing Beyoncé's historic Coachella performance foiled - this is "Insecure," after all, where nearly every joyous occasion is undercut by farce.
Molly uses the quiet time to finish up on work. If this isn't a perfect example of what it's like transitioning into your 30s is like - falling asleep and working before midnight on the first night of Beychella - I don't know what is.
Tiffany expresses her concerns about her place in the group to Issa. Tiffany has always been cloying, but her vulnerability here endeared me to the character in a way I hadn't expected.
Up until the last two-ish minutes, "High-Like" was little more than an isolated episode about four girls going to a music festival and having a good time. And that was great.
