Series of unrelated short stories covering elements of crime, horror, drama, and comedy about people of different backgrounds committing murders, suicides, thefts, and other sorts of crime caused by certain motivations, perceived or not.
All the show's trademarks are in ample evidence: the mordant introductions and afterwords by Hitch, the black humor, the supernatural and mystery themes, the twist endings and a noticeable lack of comeuppance for the bad guys.
Hitch only directed three of the 39 episodes in this still-entertaining set (his A Dip in the Pool is another wickedly gleeful Dahl tale of death and fatuity starring the great Keenan Wynn as one of life's losers). But the standard is amazingly high.
