Saturday Night Live - Season 44, Episode 08: Jason Momoa/Mumford & Sons
Trailer
On Saturday night, a new season, a late-night comedy show featuring several short plays, simulations of television commercials, and a live band. There is a new team of award-winning celebrities performing comics and popular music stars. It is a new display of a wide range of music and graphics that seem to be the most famous and have won the admiration of many.
It's also nice to see someone like Foy hosting SNL because, to be completely frank, she's not what Driver, Hill, Schreiber, Seth Meyers and Steve Carell are - a man.
Regardless, [Foy's] subtle-but-strong turn as host, a handful of hilarious sketches and two dynamite performances from Paak made this the best episode of the season thus far, by far.
Cecily Strong especially was good, and she likely would have been the individual MVP if it wasn't for all of the fine comedians coming together in the end for the perfect holiday message.
Though Baldwin, Stiller, and Armisen joined SNL for the cold open, rap superstar Kendrick Lamar's energy stole the show as he joined musical guest Anderson .Paak.
Did you think, the only problem with recent episodes of Saturday Night Live was the absence of this brilliant impression? Well, if you did, you got your wish. Also, re-evaluate your life choices.
While [Foy] doesn't steal the show, she proves herself a decent supporting player and understands the mechanics of a joke well enough to get some laughs.
Overall, this is a solid, safe first-time episode for Claire Foy... As for first-time musical guest Anderson .Paak., while the pairing seems strange on paper, both "SNL" newbies make a good first impression.
