Upon the releasing of his father from prison, Ray Donovan, a famous and professional Los Angeles fixer, who works at celebrities and the rich, struggles against the problems his family cause that challenges him, as he can solve all the problems of all people, except his family's problems.
Schreiber looks as comfortable busting heads (with a baseball bat) in the body of a Hollywood "fixer" as he does coddling his spoiled, social-climbing wife and kids.
In all cases, this is one of the smartest series to come around in a while, sharply written with a perfect balance of comedy and tragedy, action and reflection.
The fact that the writers have so completely eschewed originality, and executed the plot so poorly, means that the way the show fails is not even interesting.
