While there's still something a little small scale and unambitiously "TV" about the show as times (too many talky scenes in grey offices and shooty scenes in dull warehouses) at other moments it strikes the comic book action vibe perfectly.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is becoming unafraid to take us to dark places that I know are threatening to unveil themselves by nature of being a Mutant Enemy production. I see your strings behind the curtain, Joss.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gone from a crushing disappointment to a geeky delight, a show that positively glows with love for both its source material and the creative restrictions necessitated by being a tiny part of a much larger world.
Team Coulson appears to be returning to their Tuesday home stronger than ever with some of the most well balanced ensemble work displayed on the series to date.
