In the previous season, David Oliver is tortured in order to acknowledge that information about the whereabouts of Syd. The third season completes the series after David was able to defeat Farouq, and thus reveals the true face of the enemy at those critical moments. There is still one hope of revealing the full details of this enemy.
The central conflict between David and Syd is handled with such care, and meanwhile the rest of the episode with a wild, psychedelic paintbrush, that even the familiar superhero mumbo jumbo gets a new lease on life.
Part of the success of "Chapter 24" hinges on the episode leaning into its horror elements. Though I'd never say that Legion is a horror series, it's often at its most effective when its borrowing from horror and suspense filmmaking.
Legion Season 3 Episode 5, "Chapter 24," strategically ends almost every thread so that what comes next is completely in the air. It's a bold move that really makes the sky the limit.
Switch's allegiance is fascinating to watch unfold. She seems to understand the people of Division are trying to do the right thing, but they also have the Shadow King.
