Gotham - Season 3, Episode 02: Mad City: Burn the Witch
Trailer
Gordon hopes to return the city to the glamorous, purer version he remembers as a child as he chases after an escapee while Bruce's doppelganger roams the streets.
Monday night's episode of Gotham takes our story in some wildly new directions, setting the stage for a Season 3 that's harder to predict than we thought going in. Nothing is certain in Fox's lunatic-dark DC Comics drama, which is really quite wonderful.
Goodbye preteen Ivy, and hello seductive Poison Ivy! Gotham wasted no time in introducing the iconic Batman villain in season three, after her run-in with one of Indian Hill's escaped experiments.
Gotham takes some missteps with "Burn the Witch," proof that it's a lot easier to introduce intriguing new plot and character arcs than it is to follow-through on them.
Two episodes into Gotham's third season and Gordon's still not a cop! Thank goodness... I hope this break from the GCPD lasts a good while because, as it's been well established, he's lousy at law enforcement.
Much of this episode felt like a transition into what's to come. Whether it's Penguin's increasing presence in the public eye or the soon to come appearance of Mad Hatter, it looks like "Mad City" is the perfect subtitle for season 3.
In many ways, "Burn the Witch" feels like a transitional episode for Gotham, washing away the lingering threads from last season's finale and embracing the potential of what's to come.
