The bomb exploded, killing the Mafraq Brigade officer, Al, who is a friend of Horacio.
Much as these first moments suggest, C.S.I.: Miami is very slick, very clever (one cut to commercial comes just as the team discovers a survivor: "Stay with us!"), and very eager to please.
