Lieutenant Horatio H Caine is the head of the CSI team at Miami Dade PD. He was born in New York and worked there for years before moving to Miami, after investigating a double homicide involving a couple and their surviving daughter. As a newcomer to Miami, he joined the Bomb Squad for a few months, working for Al Humphrey. Later, he fought against Rick Stetler for the rank of Lieutenant and head of the CSI team; he won the fight and created a rivalry with Stetler, who was transferred to Internal Affairs (appearing from time to time to investigate Caine's team). Horatio has a younger brother, Raymond 'Ray' Caine, who died in active service while under cover in a drug cartel and was suspected of being corrupt. Years later Caine discovered that Ray was alive and working in Terrorism for the Secret Service. Caine and Ray fake Ray's death (again). Caine blows up a nuclear bomb over Miami to save the city. Caine and Eric Delko travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to capture a dangerous Latin mob criminal who killed Caine's wife, Marisol Delko, and threatened the lives of Ray, his wife (an ex-cop - Yelina Salas), and son, Ray Jr. (Caine's nephew) who traveled to Rio in search of a new life. After Ray's death (for real this time), Caine saved Ray Jr. and Yelina and returned to Miami with Delko. He's usually more involved in investigations than he should be. For example, during the Marisol Delko (Eric's sister) case involving drugs (she was using marijuana for cancer pain), Caine falls in love with Marisol and after her cancer goes into remission, they get married. However, just a few months after the wedding, she dies - shot by a sniper (and mob member) who was pursuing Caine, trying to get Caine to drop the police investigation into mob-related activities. As noted, Caine often becomes too personally involved in CSI cases, but he's always in control and taciturn. He has a high sense of justice and compassion, helping the innocent at every opportunity. Often he confronts high ranking agents from other agencies (FBI, NSA...) who make a pact with criminals in an effort to further their careers or agendas.Editor's note: This bio is non-contiguous (for example, Marisol's death occurred before Caine and Delko went to Rio. In fact, that is the sole reason why they went to Rio). I've taken care of most of the grammar, spelling, perspective (should be written in the third person), and tense (back stories and previous seasons are always past tense; the current season or things that have not changed are always in the present tense) of it, I also removed references to the show and the actor who plays him (that information does not need to be there since it's on the cast list); besides, there's always the possibility that this character will be on another series (*cough* CSI:New York *cough*). It still needs major revisions.
