Following the last seasons, season 7 completes the struggles that investigators have against finding out the responsible for the mysterious serial killer, that takes place and imitates the same killers in the novel of Rick Castle, a famous novelist, the thing that leads the mayor to ask for help from him.
The writers have emotionally retconned the romance at the heart of the show in order to make us wait who knows how long for another chance to see these two married off, and they do it in a way that makes literally no sense.
