This thriller begins with strong events that take place after the First World War. In that story, friends Eddie (James Cagney), George (Humphrey Bogart) and Lloyd (Jeffrey Lynn) return to America to build a new life after that bloody war. Now, the trio tries to make a living, and things will probably be different when love and competition overlap.
One of the last great gangster films of the 1930s. Cagney brings a touch of poignancy to the hood who time has passed by, and Gladys George is splendid as Panama.
