The life of Ryan Hardy, an intelligent and very courageous detective, who manages to catch the serial killer named Joe Carroll, an intelligent corrupted man, who has been released recently from prison, has been changed completely, as he manages to communicate with other criminals from prison and they wait for his sign to do whatever he wants.
Clearly the big draw is the show's power to give you the creeps. - See more at: http://screenrant.com/the-following-series-premiere-reviews/#sthash.3QvAAtse.dpuf
After the pilot, it's not hard to figure out which of the seemingly-innocuous characters are Carroll's plants, but watching the followers bond and bicker like a demented Brady Bunch is part of the show's cringe-y, creepy charm.
Anyone looking for soapy twists and turns, shocking violence and a fast-paced ride will get what they want from creator Kevin Williamson and crew, just don't expect the show to dig deep into its characters or give you much to think about in the process.
