We include in this series a series of investigations into the dramatic and powerful events in Boston. Investigator Jane Rizzoli and chief medical examiner Mauro Elise are working to find final solutions to the murders there. Both will begin investigating large and exciting killings in their city. Investigator Jane may be a tough, tough girl and Marrow sometimes reflects a frozen appearance, but they meet to solve the most dangerous and complex issues in Boston, full of criminal and sensational crimes.
"R&I" isn't any fluffy, girl power, shoot 'em up, but a gritty and occasionally gruesome drama that delves into the unpleasant side of humanity while keeping suspense and surprises alive.
Rizzoli & Isles features a good dose of humor and a lean style of storytelling that's reflected in the fairly small core group with which we will apparently be working.
The crime-driven material is familiar and, because of the book condensing, hurried and mystery-free, while at least in the early going, attempts at levity aren't working at all.
It's a compelling enough tale, with Harmon projecting just the right amount of fear and defiance and Isles a complementary mixture of comfort and good sense.
