The fourth season begins with more events as Jesse struggles with new paths through new visions towards the future of the end of the world he expects. Jesse and Tulip are preparing for an all-out assault on Massada in a short period, as Cassidy struggles during that seemingly bad and tortuous period of his life, but Star and his krill will be fully prepared for them.
It is becoming clearer and clearer that the end result of Preacher is the downfall of Jesse Custer. The only thing that isn't clear is just how that is going to happen.
[This episode] of Preacher was undeniably a delight, and a great reminder of everything that makes the show such a unique delight to tune into every Sunday.
With only so much time left to offer one last stand for Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy, it's irritating to continue to see the show flounder so much with episodes that feel like extended padding.
[N]arratively, this is an intensely frustrating hour of television, doubling down on the show's worst tendencies while failing to make any sort of forward progress at all.
