Upon discovering her husband's affair with a woman online, mother-to-be Maggie ends her marriage and turns to her childhood friend Emma for support. In order to help Maggie in her time of need, Emma gives up her successful business in China to return to their hometown of Pinebrook, and help her friend raise her newborn baby.
Playing House isn't notable because it has two female leads, or because it's part of a trend, or will soon have a baby in the mix. Playing House is notable because it's smart and it's funny. Period.
Obviously, the birthing process in TV can be difficult. But at this point, Playing House looks more like a rental than the kind of show destined to put down roots.
Expectations couldn't be lower for this unrequested reunion, which is why it comes as such a nice surprise that Playing House, while hardly anything new, provides a much happier showcase for these gals' effortlessly snarky chemistry.
