Orphan Black - Season 4, Episode 02: Transgressive Border Crossing
Trailer
It's back to basics for the cult show as the fourth season kicks off in lean, fresh and easier-to-follow fashion. Season 4 opens with Sarah's hard-won refuge in Iceland getting shattered by a Neolution attack...
"Transgressive Border Crossing" shed more light into Beth's final days, and also added "maggot-bots" into the show's lexicon and my future nightmares. Suffice to say, this gives "bugged" a whole new meaning.
Once Beth's story wrapped last episode it was unclear if there would be another return to the past. Thankfully, that story continued when Art and Sarah visited her flat... and flashbacks began filling in more of the blanks.
Pushing forward after its impressive, format-breaking season premiere, "Transgressive Border Crossing" cements Orphan Black's determination to keep one foot planted firmly in the past.
I didn't feel like the Beth flashbacks added a whole lot. It's actually a bit disconcerting that after coming this far in the story, we're going all the way back to the beginning.
"Transgressive Border Crossing" had an extraordinarily tough act to follow... Nevertheless, we do get a great moment or two, most of which remind us that Tatiana Maslany's virtuosic performances are not the only exceptional elements of Orphan Black.
