Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his hometown of Harlan, Kentucky. He enforces his own brand of justice there and his body count was matched only by his grudging devotion to the law.
Although Justified isn't always mentioned in the same breath with some of cable's most prestigious dramas, last season's twisted alliances and terrific heavies (here's to you, Neal McDonough and Mykelti Williamson) put it on par with many of them.
The show's innate ability to create fabulous characters, and tell great stories, once again made Justified one of if not THE best dramas on television this year.
Season 4 will likely be remembered for its wonderfully executed (but sometimes wildly digressive) storyline that did without a typical big bad - a move that seemed risky at times, but ultimately paid off by putting the characters ahead of the plot.
