Completing the adventures and efforts of doctors and patients inside County General Hospital in Chicago, where they do their best and race against time to save the lives of people. In this new season, the hospital faces a horrible explosion.
But as you may have heard, the series drew to a close last night after fifteen years, and while it was emotionally satisfying, it won't go down in history among the great series finales.
By the end, I was almost as sorry to see minor characters like grumpy desk clerk Frank (Troy Evans) and nurse Haleh Adams (Yvette Freeman) leave the screen as I was major players like Wyle and Stamos.
Long-running television series, no matter how brilliant they once were, invariably suffer creative declines. Some are capable of rebounding for at least one good season, but most are not. Worse, they lose their relevance.
