In a mysterious and horrifying atmosphere, the series presents a number of exciting stories that written by Stephen King, an American author. In the first season the series highlights on the life of a lawyer called Henry Deaver who has a dark past in his hometown, Castle Rock. After receiving an unknown-source call, Deaver has to go there, remembering his old past.
If "Severance" is any indication, it's not the diverse strands of the Stephen King Extended Universe that's holding this thing together: It's André Holland... He makes Castle Rock feel like a drama, not the haunted-house ride at the county fair.
It's the essence of King the show is after, and for the most part, it does a good job of focusing in on what makes his stories so memorable in the first place: the characters.
Shortly after thrusting Pangborn, an established hero from several novels and films, into a wintry new mystery, we get one of the most gruesome deaths Uncle Stevie never wrote.
Based on the first hour, is Castle Rock worth your time? Undoubtedly. There's a richness to this story that's sensed right off the bat, as is Abrams' penchant for "mystery box" storytelling.
