In the fourth season, Bovey seems to be controlling college life, noting that classmates are disappearing in strange and unconvincing circumstances. Now, Buffy seems to find herself at odds with her new roommate and worried about a series of disturbing dreams that come through a spirit-absorbing demon.
Although Buffy's fourth season made admirable steps towards moving the show away from the trappings of high school and into the adult world, it had too many stumbles to rank very high in the show's impressive canon.
People didn't like this one, but I really liked what it tried to do. Bringing in the Initiative as a patriarchal military organization trying to exploit forces they didn't understand, and having the Slayer set things right was compelling
