Andre 'Dre' Johnson Sr., an African-American advertising executive who tries to pass on some of his urban culture to his seemingly uninterested children. Like any parents, Andre 'Dre' and Rainbow Johnson want to give their children the best. But their offspring's childhood is turning out to be much different than theirs. As he defines what the American dream means to his family in a multi-cultural world, one idea keeps surfacing. It appears that in this melting pot called America, we are all a little black-ish.
Ultimately, Dre's dream led to an honest conversation about his work concerns and a heartwarming scene featuring the family going through old family photo albums.
Black-ish often addresses class as much as race, and many of the situations transcend both, but Barris and his writers moved with increasing confidence into topics that more than explained the show's title.
While "Good-ish Times" is so solid and such a heavily-detailed homage, in terms of a season ender based on the plots the show has been working with, it doesn't completely work.
