Things may seem unwholesome during this difficult life of this man. The series begins with Sam Fox, an actor without a candidate trying to earn a living. It seems that this man is raising three daughters, in Los Angeles, while the pressures of Hollywood work are burning and he is one father amidst all these challenges.
Pamela Adlon's Better Things goes a step further, creating a realistic portrait of an actress and comedian trying to raise a trio of daughters in a semi-normal way.
With Better Things, [Aldon's] crafted a show about trying to have it all in Hollywood-make money, book gigs, and raise children-that somehow feels utterly original.
Still, Adlon's performance, bawdy and bewildered, is one to watch, a shining example of how TV continues to do a better job than film in delivering multilayered roles for women.
