"Down Down Down" is still laying the groundwork, but it manages to keep things interesting while it does. And with new villains and mysteries popping up, the world is sure to be expanded upon even more next week.
There are certainly more pieces that must fall into place, but Kate coming to understand her value as someone who shows up for people is a good theme to have in place as the show and its hero figures itself out.
Batwoman is finally out and swinging with the confidence of its main character. She may not be the hero Gotham expected, but she's the hero TV needs right now.
Kate and Alice's relationship is building; let's hope to a worthy breaking point. It's nice to have Thomas Elliott in this world but all of the Kate relationship drama feels like it should be in Riverdale or something.
On Batwoman Season 1 Episode 3, "Down Down Down," the first villain of the week appears, and unfortunately, Tommy Elliot doesn't really work. He's not that engaging. There's no intrigue involved.
For the most part, the Kate/Beth/Alice stuff here is pretty good. It's the most interesting dynamic on the show so far. Everything else is still very clunky, but this episode at least crafts some compelling stories without going into exposition overdrive.
