This drama series centers around the life story of Wynona Earp, the granddaughter of the great Wyatt Earp, who struggles against the evil and supernatural creatures, according to her supernatural powers, as she during her 27th birthday went to help her family to get rid of the curse, in her own land.
Wynonna Earp is something different for Syfy, and something that also feels different to anything we're seeing on TV currently, thanks not only to its setting, but its prominent placement of so many strong, profane, kickass female characters.
If you're looking for a decent supernatural western then Wynonna Earp is the show for you. Yes, it does have a lot to improve on, but there's enough mystery and reveals in the first episode to make you want to watch one more.
Wynonna Earp isn't as sharp, funny, thematically rich and consistently well-cast as Buffy was even in its bumpy opening season, there are enough elements in common to justify a tenuous comparison and enough small pleasures to encourage continued viewing.
