The Deuce - Season 2, Episode 02: There's an Art to This
Trailer
In an exciting and dramatic atmosphere, this series takes a deep look behind the life in New York City during the 1970s and '80s when the porn and many wrongdoings were spreaded so much. At the beginning of this season we see Vincent doing so well in the management of his new night club, Club 366. Also, his girl friend Abby helps him on this. But he may get in troubles because of his brother who borrows money from a sex emporium to pay off his debts.
"There's An Art To This" does a lot to color in the big picture of The Deuce. The episode shows capitalism sinking its hooks into what used to be under-the-table, off-the-books sorts of enterprises.
The changes afoot for The Deuce in "There's an Art to This" are exciting and it's wonderful to watch our characters grapple with the repercussions of them.
From "Freaks and Geeks" onward, James Franco has proved particularly adept at facile charm, using his good looks and easy charisma to sell women an idea of himself that reality can never match.
There's only so much any of these women can do - prostitution still exists 40 years after the events of this episode, and the porn trade is still dominated by men - but they're trying. And for this week, at least, they're trying even more than usual.
