After leaving her hometown years ago, Camille Preaker becomes a reporter in a famous newspaper. When a murder of two girls occur in her hometown, she is tasked to go their to cover it, the thing which may lead her to bad memories specially when she discovers that she knows the two girls.
I loved that fact that the show allowed itself to go all-out in its outrageously over-the-top southern gothicness, right down to the fairytale-poison coloured glass bottles in Adora's kitchen.
Personally, I appreciate the way Sharp Objects turns that anticipation on its head, demonstrating its priorities by deferring others; this is a story not about specific crimes, but the culture that led to them and the women who still endure it.
"Falling" doesn't take the rhythm of a mystery doling out clever twists but rather something slipperier - like a fairytale in which the most important story is the one a woman's body has to tell.
When Sharp Objects finally sinks its teeth into the murder mystery at its core, as it does in "Falling," the result is something a little more satisfying - due to all the personal stakes involved - than the typical quest to figure out whodunnit.
"Falling," is one of the most haunting episodes of television ever. Finally, we see exactly how dangerous and depraved Adora, and Wind Gap, can really be.
I'd love to know what Adora has on Vickery because he doesn't seem to get all that much out of their "relationship" to keep her sick secrets close to the vest.
Tying together the series' murder-mystery and Camille's personal odyssey, which were thought to be largely separate up until now - could've gone off the rails... Instead, the culmination proves emotionally resonant and makes for one juicy twist.
