The fact that the hat is the most memorable thing about (Bello's) role wouldn't be such a problem if the show's premise weren't so tired and the script weren't so perfunctory.
Prime Suspect has some major kinks to work out of its pilot, but if it can get over that hump, it will prove a wonderful showcase of the fabulous Maria Bello's talents.
Bello's performance as the weather-beaten Timoney, swabbing her emotional scars with alcohol, nicotine and invective, is easily the highlight of the fall television season.
