Faith, a small-town Welsh lawyer, is forced to cut short her extended maternity leave when her husband and business partner, Evan, goes missing. As the truth of his actions surface, Faith must fight to protect her family and her sanity.
While Keeping Faith is always watchable and can boast numerous strong performances, its problem is that it has never managed to surpass the central mystery of the first series.
It is like watching the video for Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart on repeat -- a damburst of soft rock and overwrought acting. That makes it perfect viewing for a Saturday evening.
It's just as well that the performances are so strong, the scenery so striking, because the story does not barrel towards the finish line so much as creep forward one cautious step at a time.
