The series follows Sam Hunter, an operative for an elite private intelligence firm who survives an attempt on her life that may have been orchestrated by members of her own team but actually it is tied into a horrific event from her childhood.
The stakes and motivations of all the players are clear, where most of what's going on in the rest of the series involves lies, conspiracies, startling twists and changes of allegiance.
All told, this international production represents the kind of empty-calorie popcorn fare that demonstrates not every drama with a British pedigree is "Masterpiece" material.
The best thing about the show by far is George herself, an Aussie who proved she had the national knack for accents as an American on Alias and In Treatment.
