As sad as I was to see Jim return to work at the GCPD so quickly, I'm glad that it meant that we could get an episode like "Welcome Back, Jim Gordon," a bold and confident step forward as Gotham heads into the last third of its debut season.
"Welcome Back, Jim Gordon" is a welcome complement to last week's Gotham episode. It not only gives virtually all of the show's major players something to do it also acknowledges the presence and significance of rarely-seen characters.
It is an ending that actually makes for a powerful way to cap the episode, nearly negating my gripes, even though the basic premise of this episode slows things down considerably.
Like I said before, " Welcome Back, Jim Gordon" may run in circles most of the time, but even those old, tired circles still have a lot of entertainment value.
