The ninth season starts with more events to Bert's resentment, and Al hires Caitlin for new schemes. In the meantime, Ruth is worried that she seems to be more forgotten at the time, and may become more concerned when Martin offers a mini-examination of her mental state.
The comedy may be gentle, ambling and rather predictable, but after 15 years, it's become as warm and welcoming an autumn fixture as a bowl of hot soup.
