In 1917, the war in which General Sir Anthony Cecil Hugmanay Milchit fought was extraordinary. The general began leading that war by leading British troops on the front lines against the Germans. Blackadder is taking a different path as he tries to find a way out of this silly war. In a short while, Blackader tries to make many differences and experiments in order to achieve what he wants.
Despite the harsh setting of the WWI trenches, Blackadder Goes Forth is damn funny stuff, yet, in my opinion, extremely respectful to those that fought and gave their lives in those hellish Flanders trenches.
"Goodbyeee" is a masterpiece, a hilarious and painful crystallization of everything Blackadder does well. It is without a doubt the best episode of the series and more than that, it's one of the best series finales in television history.
