A mysterious series full of criminal events that tells about DI Alex Drake, who was held hostage and shot unexpectedly. Alex awakes to find herself in a brothel in 1981 but was rescued in a police raid. Over time, Alex soon became acquainted with DCI Gene Hunt and his team through detailed reports by DCI Sam Tyler on his own 1973 journey.
By and large, Ashes seems to be following the standard sequel template--do what the original did, only just different enough that people can pretend what we're seeing is new.
It successfully meshes poignant moments and subtle humor by combining the realities of 1980s British politics with the colorful glam culture the decade was known for.
