It is a series of comedic and dramatic events that speak of a man whose wife died in mysterious circumstances. The events of this series begin as this man struggles to reconcile with the death of his wife by adopting a different and new character. Tony tries to be rude in an attempt to expel those who are trying to help. On the other hand, Tony negatively affects his colleagues in the work through his method adopted.
Gervais has given us an affecting series, populated with a collection of fine characters, ably played. It doesn't always hit home, but when it does it is something special.
Gervais the actor is failed by the writer and not shown to best advantage by the director. The performance isn't enough, and its strengths underline the inadequacies found elsewhere.
