The film tells of real-life Robin Lee Graham (Joseph Bottoms), a 16-year-old boy who sets sail in a 23-foot sloop in attempt to be the youngest person to circumnavigation the globe solo. He had planned the trip with his sailor father Lyle Graham (John McLiam) for years.
