It is the story that tells the biography of the life and death of the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven and his painful struggle with hearing loss. Perhaps it is quite idealistic when we recount that story through all the work that is famous for it. The composer once wrote a famous love letter to an unknown lover and the film tries to find out who was that lover at that time.
I doubet whether Rose's speculative and overwroght chronicle of Beethoven will rekindle interest in the composer's life and work in the same way that Amadeus did for Mozart.
As writer and director, Bernard Rose must take full responsibility for the fictions masquerading as fact in his treatment of Beethoven's life and loves.
