The documentary tells of the journey of a group of young girls and their mothers in real time who clash with the so-called Backpage. These girls face judges of special interest groups and the old Internet Freedom Act, which was developed by judges to protect the Internet and its privacy. These laws seem to protect websites from any responsibility for hosting ads that forcibly sell girls.
I Am Jane Doe doesn't quite work in some places, but it's a significant film deserving global recognition - if only to bring attention to the realities of child trafficking.
The writer-director, Mary Mazzio, demonstrates a profound empathy with her subjects, who can admit to the charms of "Pretty Woman" without falling for it.
