Following the life story of Eve Harrington, a young ambitious actress, who has a miserable life and does her best, in order to gain fame, but once upon meeting the great actress Margo Channing and her famous friends, who listen to her sad story and decide to help her, the thing that inspires her life.
Joseph L Mankiewicz's film dissects the narcissism and hypocrisy of the spotlight as sharply as [Billy Wilder's Sunset Blvd], but pays equal attention to the challenges of enacting womanhood.
Joseph L. Mankiewicz' All About Eve is a rich, impeccably written, gunshot sharp black comedy about an aging actress, the go-getter who seeks to supplant her, and the heaping pile of carefully fostered artisanal bitchiness that they construct.
All About Eve is deliciously fun to watch with characters playing versions of themselves (most noticeably Bette Davis) and being quite introspective for its day.
