Filmmaker Kate Scott has been influenced by her inner city Northeast Los Angeles upbringing and diverse community. While having worked alongside respectable talents like Garrett Wang, Adrien Brody, Holly Marie Combs, Brad Garrett and Lorenzo Lamas she has learned to steadily grow in the television/film industry. Her first acting job was a funny spaghetti sauce commercial opposite King Stuart. Overcoming an early family crisis was a huge reason for Kate to remain a humble, unpretentious spirit, moving towards creativity, sports and comedy. Performing comedy since age 6, her mentors are Tiffany Haddish Adam Hunter and Joey Medina. She also had a fantastic early experience with a children's short film The Captain directed by Octavia Spencer and narrated by Allison Janney There Kate used her inner city basketball skills, as the youngest cast member.Spencer inspired Kate to make things happen! Kate trained in Martial Arts for 3 months straight. Then, at age 11, she began producing a martial arts project Rising Sun, in which she played the adopted daughter to lead actor Garrett Wang character. He is a fan favorite from Star Trek: Voyager days. Rising Sun was directed by Martin Glover a close, family friend and youngest brother of Danny Glover. In 2012, this family project received a nomination for Best Children's Film at Action on Film International Festival. In 2014, with 2 more projects as Official Selections at AOF, Kate was Nominated for Best Young Filmmaker and Best Sports Documentary Short. Kate's experiences as a filmmaker/producer in eight projects led her to a directorial debut in 2014 with the A.C. Green Leadership Basketball Camp documentary. The 25th anniversary short celebrates one of her mentors A.C. Green a 3 time NBA Champ and his work with our youth. She then directed #Disneyland60 which was an Official Selection at the 2015 L.A. Shorts Film Festival, which then won Best Documentary at AOF too. That same year her Shaolin Kung Fu documentary Game Changer premiered as an Official Selection at AOF. As a director, and age 15 then, Kate won a Best Young Filmmaker and a Stella Adler Scholarship too! Game Changer also got her a Best Leading Young Actress nomination at the 2016 Young Entertainer Awards at Universal Studios. And, another All Sports Films Festival Official Selection that year! In 2017, she was recognized and nominated as a Teen Actress in the Voice-Over category for her work on 'Suspense' by the Young Artist Awards as well as Young Entertainer Awards for a second time. 2017 continued to have festivals screen her films, as she won Filmmaker of the Year and Best Doc for #Disneyland60 at the Austin Student Film Festival. She's as strong and talented behind the camera, as she is naturally in front of the camera. Her acting credits include: Charmed, Heroes, I-Kid, Cory & Sid, Holiday Plans, Jessica Flowers, The Value of Ex, and she truly enjoyed playing a hilarious "Mom" in Donaco Smyth's comedy Way of Seeing again opposite Dee Freeman, with Dagney Kerr and Kelly Hawthorne. She also enjoys her recurring voice-over roles in the Peabody-nominated series 'Suspense.' Kate has held her own opposite the very wonderful, Emmy-winner David Lago in Nobody's Perfect, which she produced. She also completed one full season as Director of Photography on the Michael Colyar series in post production. When she's not developing projects, Kate focuses on family, continuing martial arts and maintaining a 4.0 academic grade in college junior studying to become a better filmmaker. Show less «
