The film follows Bruce, an American accountant who moves to live in Sweden after falling in love with a Swedish girl. Although he experiences culture shock at first, Bruce soon get accustomed to the new life style and enjoy his time in the new country.
The best parts of the show aren't usually the jokes but rather the moments when the writing digs deeply and earnestly into the complications of being in a relationship whose culture is so different from your own.
The second season is as lovely to watch as the first, but it smartly dampens Bruce's cultural tone deafness and expands the scope of the series to focus more on Emma and her family.
