A musical reality-tv series that presents a chain of exciting singing competitions where we see in each episode a group of participants compete each other on the stage and in the final episode, the four finalists enter a new exciting challenge to let the people and the judges vote for the winner of the title, The Four. The series is presented by the American singer, Fergie.
Prepare to calibrate your tolerance and enjoyment of Sean Combs - and Fergie, for that matter - as TV personalities as opposed to witnessing the birth of a pop star.
The biggest drawback to the frenzied structure is that it's hard to connect with any contestant, so its much-hyped battles have no emotional weight. The judges are unafraid to dole out harsh criticism, but in this context it feels kind of pointless.
Fergie billed the new program as "the first and only show where every episode is like a finale." If the reference were intended to mean that viewers have marginal incentive to tune in the next week, then mission accomplished.
The Four works hard (too hard?) to separate itself from other reality competitions...Our other problem with The Four is that it leaves little time to make a personal connection with the challengers.
