The power of "Shtisel" is in demystifying religious orthodoxy as we follow the lives of Shulem Shtisel (Doval'e Glickman), a bearded, pious yeshiva teacher, and his artistic, disappointing and unwed son, Akiva.
Shtisel is refreshingly nonjudgmental, and that may be its best quality. Rather than emphasizing the otherness of the Haredi people we meet, the show brings out their humanness, sometimes with comic touches.
