It is a series of events that speak of athletes who have experienced many failures in their lives. Although these champions were defeated, they managed to turn the bitterness of failure into real success. The series begins with the suffering of boxer Michael Bent, who was forced by his abusive father to practice the sport at first. It may be tough when Michael received the knockout but changed his life completely later.
The animation, also directed and co-storyboarded by Duzyj, is a huge boon. It's a simple-yet-effective style that has shades of flash animation, shades of a retro video game aesthetic and manages to be unexpectedly versatile on its own.
"Losers" isn't designed to be a corrective against how history has treated each of these individuals, but it's telling that in almost every case, the episode ends with the person continuing to play the sport that they love.
