This story tells more about the events we live with Walt Longmire, the charismatic leader of Absaroka County, Wyo, on his return to work after his wife's death. It seems that this man is a man in psychological reform, but he is hiding behind him his courageous, modest smile and long-lasting intelligence.
Longmire, much like its titular hero, might take its time, but the way it mixes grit with grief paints a pretty and powerful picture. Like a framed Ansel Adams photo spattered with blood.
It's certainly not bad, I'm all for slow-building character studies, but none of the storylines that played out on the premiere, nor any of the arcs teased for future episodes, made me scurry to my remote and set my DVR for Series Recording.
